Hello there! Happy Latinx Heritage Month!
It’s with great pleasure that I welcome you to my very own website! This is an exciting new venture as I try to expand on the work I’ve been doing online (on my blog and social media).
As a birthday present, a group of friends decided to gift me this website and I’ve been working hard to make this a wonderful experience (thank you, Janna, Kayla, and Kerri, I love you all). I decided, what better time to open my website than during Latinx Heritage Month. I’d been playing around with reaching out to other Latinx creatives for collaborations and what I came up with was this: an interview series. Every day, from September 15th until October 15th, 2019, I’ll be uploading an interview with Latinx creatives, from illustrators to Adult Romance authors, whether they’re traditionally published or working on their manuscripts.
For the past year, I’ve been promoting new books by Latinx authors/illustrators through #ReadLatinx, getting to know more about the business of publishing, and learning and unlearning new things. It’s been an immensely exciting experience, and I wanted to continue these things through here. At the moment, this will be an extension of what I do over on my blog, but also a more sophisticated, streamlined version of my blog.
Now, here’s a sneak peek at the creatives who will be participating in ¡Vamos a Hablar! | Let’s Talk!:
Nina Moreno, author of Don’t Date Rosa Santos
José Olivarez, author of Citizen Illegal
Adriana Herrera, author of the Dreamers series
Ronnie Garcia, contributor to Puerto Rico Strong and illustrator for Saving Chupie (2022)
Yamile Saied Méndez, author of Blizzard Besties and Where Are You From?
Claribel Ortega, owner of GifGrrl, co-host of Write or Die, author of Ghost Squad (2020)
Cit Callahan, author of Plastic Wings
Aiden Thomas, author of Cemetery Boys (2020)
Jenny Torres Sanchez, author of Because of the Sun and The Fall of Innocence
Zaida Polanco, screenwriter and author of Swing Batter Swing
…And more to come!
